The most dangerous idea of the week is that the U.S. election is over. The mainstream media today crowned Joe Biden president and as I write this, he’s preparing to deliver a victory speech.
There’s just one little problem. It’s not over.
There will be court challenges and maybe a riot or two. And when the dust settles, Biden will probably still be president, but not without a long and painful fight.
People have underestimated Donald Trump since his unlikely presidential campaign launched in 2015. It continued through the primaries, which he won, and the general election, which he also won. For reasons that aren’t entirely clear, many still assume Trump will act predictably, which is to say, he’ll follow the political norms by delivering a gracious concession speech and then taking a long vacation.
That’s never going to happen.
Now what?
Instead, the president is whipping his base into an uncontrolled frenzy. They will only rest when he is inaugurated for a second term.
How do I know? Because they are emailing me with their intentions today. They say this is war. I believe them.
So here’s the most dangerous idea of the week: that the election has ended. Anyone who believes that lie has drunk too much of the mainstream media Kool-Aid. (I know because I’m part of the mainstream media. Our Kool-Aid comes in a lot of flavors.)
Repeat: It’s not over.
